Past, Present, and Future Timeline”
Writing Project
_files/image002.jpg)
GOAL: This writing project goal is to create a written story of at least 5 past important events that have occurred in your lifetime and least 5 future important events that you hope to happen in the future. You will need to write about at least 1 present important event that is happening now. You will also create a timeline display representing what your writing describes in words. Finally, you will orally present this to your class.
WHEN: Begin planning and working as soon as possible. Timelines and reports are due in class on Friday, September 1, 2006. Although class presentations may continue during the following week during Pre-Algebra class, your project should be turned in to me on the due date.
INSTRUCTIONS:
REPORT: This report should include accomplishments, hobbies, goals, and any significant experiences you have or hope to have in the future. Be sure to include events that you would like your classmates to hear about during the presentation. The final draft writing should be typed/word processed and should be a one page minimum with a two page maximum. We will have one class period in the computer lab on Sept. 1 for final drafts. Have your rough draft ready to bring to class on Thursday, Aug. 31, 2006. Use Times New Roman font (size 12) or other easily read font. Be sure to format paragraphs to 1 ˝ space size. Print approved work (after using spell check) once in black and white only on white paper. No report cover is needed as your work will be published on the wall near the recess door in Building A wing.
TIMELINE: Order the important events of your past, present, and future on the timeline in a neat, clear, and organized manner. Graph those events using integers, a number line, and important topic labels. You would attach pictures, photographs, clipart, etc. by gluing, taping, or stapling them to the appropriate position on the timeline. Include dates on the labels as well as the topic name of the events above the number line. Use construction paper of 12 x 18 inch size rather than poster paper. Remember to put your first and last name along with the class heading on the bottom left-hand corner of the construction paper. The school theme “My Past, Present, and Future Timeline” should be clearly seen at the top of the construction paper.
SOURCES: You can use magazine cutouts, newspapers, pictures, clipart, personal photographs or memorabilia to create your timeline. All items will be returned but if you have a very special photograph, you may decide to copy or scan it rather than using the original. Be sure and include creative ideas to spark interest in your timeline. Use of color and eye catching details would enhance your earned points (see rubric on back). See me for clarification of the project or for ideas or suggestions.
