Method Three - Embedding Videos into Placemarks

Adding United Streaming Video Clips to Google Earth

The following instructions may be used for both downloaded and streaming video clips.

  1. Copy the text below and paste it into Notepad or any other text editor.

  1. Log onto United Streaming and select your video clip.
  2. Click on the clip to play it.
  3. As the video is playing, right-click on the video clip and select Properties from the menu.
  4. Highlight and copy the text next to the word "Location".  This will be your direct link to the video clip.

  1. Go back to your text editor.
  2. Replace http://www.discoveryeducation.com/whateverthelinkwas.asf with your actual link location.
  3. Copy all of the text in your text editor.
  4. Paste it into a placemark in Google Earth.

If you have done this correctly, the video should play when you open the placemark.

You can also do this with downloaded or local video files.  Instead of "http://www.discoveryeducation.com/whateverthelinkwas.asf" you would use the location on your local drive as follows:

file:///c:/foldername/filename.asf

You can also use this method with mp3 and other audio files.
